Artist Biography

Rossina Boyer is an “artista trifecta”: Dancer, Author, and Painter, each tracing itself back to her South American roots as a Peruvian immigrant to the United States. In addition to competing in and teaching Peruvian folk dance, Rossina has authored and illustrated a semi-autobiographic bilingual children’s’ book: “Please, I want to see papa again!” / “Por favor, quiero ver a papa otra vez!” Through profit-sharing of the book sales, Rossina was honored by two non-profits, raising funds for food and school supplies for migrant children. A lifelong artist, upon moving to Huntsville, Rossina opened her art studio “Matices de Colores Arts,” where she explores the abstract world and manages her art business. In early 2022, Rossina was selected to be a “Voice of Huntsville” by The Scout Guide of Huntsville, AL. She has also been featured on several TV programs discussing her art as well as performing live paintings.

Artist Statement

“I approach the subject of my paintings with a balance of thoughtfulness and impulsiveness, which manifests itself in unpredictable ways. The canvas and I go on a unique journey together, and sometimes we get lost, but we always find our way in the end”.

“When I paint, I let myself go. I sync my breath with the canvas, together we inhale and exhale color, porpoising in out of consciousness. Sometimes I unconsciously stop, taking a respite I didn’t realize I needed. Sometimes the artwork takes hours, sometimes weeks, and sometimes months. But, it’s the same sense of passion each time that brings me back to the studio time and time again. I paint for pleasure- a pleasure I love and wish to share with my collectors and the world.
